I was at DMA ’06 for the Sunday half session and was startled by how the show hand been split. There were two halls Interactive marketing and Multi-channel marketing halls.
The main hall was the multi-channel hall and, accordingly, it was full of all the big exhibits and big companies. The rest of us were pushed […]

I had to travel from Graph Expo (Chicago) to DMA (San Francisco) and the difference was stark. Graph Expo was turning into a Marketing Show, where every printer is trying to change into a communications service company, and the technology companies there reflected that. The show was alive and quite vibrant. DMA was much tamer, […]

I feel sorry for direct marketers.
3 days of classes telling them that they have to be data experts, psychologists, politicians, IT experts and in each seminar that everything they used to know is obsolete and best practices of last year are now practically offensive to this year’s customers.
Sales still doesn’t do a good job […]

I can’t speak about Sunday, because I was spending time with my husband; and I can’t speak about Tuesday, because I was in the office furiously working on our redesigned webpages (hopeful that we will be able to unveil soon). Monday was my time at DMA and I had the opportunity to attend a few […]

Carpet… check. Electricity… check. Monitor… check. We scroll through the list of items repeatedly in anticipation of the DMA 06 tradeshow in San Francisco. Despite my nervousness of overlooking an item during these last weeks of preparation pandemonium, there are a few completed items that have prevented me from perspiring:
We managed to squeeze a […]

Having successful campaigns and booths is all very well, and it’s what we’re driving towards, but getting your hands dirty learning what works for you and what needs to be tweaked can be really satisfying.

Here we are at the booth. From left to right: Brittany, Angela, Jon and James.
In other news, I continue to work on revisions to our website (not yet posted) and we are interviewing for a Senior Manager or Director in Marketing (listed at Craigslist).
And, of course, we are happily analyzing our impressions of the show […]

This morning, Jon and I spent time at Adobe’s headquarters in San Jose at a seminar co-hosted by one of our partners, the Mahoney Company.
This was really a great experience despite some unusual glitches and I am currently experiencing some serious "tool envy" because Creative Suite 2 has some beautiful new features. As I remarked […]

The lot of us like to think that we’re unconventional. Sure, we go all gooey over the latest hot geek toy, but we really don’t want to be yet another booth having a drawing for an iPod.

The idea behind this demo is that a hotel/resort chain is marketing to their guests to verify current information and promote a return trip. The initiating piece would be a thank you email with a personal URL.

I’m quite excited to be attending the On Demand conference this year since our CEO, Wrich Printz will be speaking on a panel session. For those of you attending, it will be Session 15, Avoiding the Red Truck.

I think this was probably the most valuable session I went to at AdTech and I am really, really hoping that I’ll be able to access video for it. In fact, I am hoping to be able to make many, many people watch it.
