Now that we’ve achieved a ‘critical mass’ of live applications on the new platform, we’re going to start kicking off 2x a week Webex meetings for customers and prospects.  Not salesy or lecturish… my hope is it’s more like a Iron Chef (for marketing software) where customers and prospects come to us with challenges and we show how to […]

We’ve crossed some kind of karma threshold I think… signing up two new Fuse customers in the same day.

All Good Ideas Are Viral

“Viral Marketing” is an often quoted meme for an idea that catches on but fails when it’s manufactured.

We like to talk about our features, power, success stories and future plans but it turns out our customers just like US.

The Return of the Cold Call?

* 2 Comments

A typical cold call is not particularly concerned about delivering any value in itself and really the cold caller just wants to cast a wide net, snag me, throw me against a wall and see if I stick as an opportunity. Yeah, who would want to interrupt their day to be treated like a dead codfish?

Pretend To Be Working Week!

Perhaps for your company next week is ‘pretend to be working week’ but I’m taking vacation, so this is my week to ‘get organized’, ‘develop the strategic plan’ and ‘clean out my inbox’.

Jon’s time at DMA 06

I feel sorry for direct marketers.
3 days of classes telling them that they have to be data experts, psychologists, politicians, IT experts and in each seminar that everything they used to know is obsolete and best practices of last year are now practically offensive to this year’s customers.
Sales still doesn’t do a good job […]

It’s so wrong, I couldn’t even stomach coming up with a cutesy title. AOL releases 600,000+ members searches in the name of acedemia, masking user names with numbers, it’s shocking what you can learn.

About

Archive for Jon.

All but one of the following things are true about me. I was, in fact, at the first demo of our first 1.0 alpha version of our product at Wrich's house with Lawrence and Lawrence, but no one seems to remember me there. I have known and consorted with convicted felons and were even publicly congratulated by a few of them on stage in front of thousands of people. In college, I went on an expedition to Belize to research Mayan living conditions and discovered a perfectly perserved set of pottery in a style no one had seen before. I started making and building custom computers for people of an online ordering system before Michael Dell, but my parents convinced me to stop that foolishness and focus on college, despite it being a success. I had an opportunity to go to work for Yahoo when they were under 20 employees but I said "Ads on the internet? That'll never work". I am very, very good at Excel. I can attribute a high % of my career income to being good at pivot tables and macros. I wrote the first program to automate the transfer of credit card data into Quicken over electronic delivery. I was paid $500 for my code.
