Combining Concepts

In response to last week’s blog, I thought about a possible solution to minimizing our overwhelming amount of different ideas:

Although each one of our distinct concepts works well on its own, the combined concepts might have a more effective and more powerful outcome. Let’s take for example the following elements:

  1. Peanut butter
  2. Jelly
  3. Bread

Each of these items is tasty on its own, but when combined, these ingredients create an amazing taste. And with the addition of a little banana… you’ve got a combination of deliciousness in one single sandwich. (See link below for more combined idea outcomes.)

The challenging part about combining ideas is deciphering which ideas work well together and which ideas create a disastrous recipe. There’s a fine line between creating a combo overload and creating an idea that people enjoy. We want to create the perfect blend of each idea, and avoid going overboard -resulting in a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with pickles, chocolate and anchovies.
