Speaking of letting the creativity begin, one of the new ideas we wanted to try outside of direct mail, email and purls was using Google ad-words. In 2006, many seminars spoke of alternative marketing such as podcasting, search engine optimization, and sms text messaging in addition to the emails, direct mail, and purls.
L2 decided to start our own little experiment using Google ad-words just to see if that increases awareness about us or if we get qualified leads in from the site. We have in fact received such inquiries but we’ll have to wait and see how effective this will be. If it is indeed an effective way to get qualified leads to our sales team, perhaps we will spend a little more time on that aspect, it’s a bit too early to tell just yet.
Thus far, it seems that the purl part of our software platform is the most appealing in these searches, but does that diminish the personalized direct mail side of our business or the email side? We need to figure out a way to Market ourselves better, should we try and let people know just a few key things that we do or is it the platform in its entirety that makes us more appealing since we have competitors who just focus on a few features that we have?
The experiment is deeper than that, but that's a topic for another post!
I have found it interesting that a few people have actually responded to our direct mail campaigns but then come to our site after doing a Google search. Unexpected, but cool that we can figure it out!
