Today, many in our office are taking a field trip to the local movie theater to see the new X-Men movie. Just so you don’t feel left out, here are a few super hero links (along with my results for the various quizzes).
| LiquidGeneration has a very male-oriented quiz which claims I am most like the Hulk. I wonder if they are keying almost entirely off the "what is your favorite color" question but I don’t care enough to go back and test it out. Besides, the interface is irritating. | ![]() |

At Seabreeze Computers, the quiz was very easy to take due to a simple interface. There were plenty of questions and I liked my result much better.
I especially like that they show me the runners-up and percentage scoring. |

| Matthew Barr, self-proclaimed geek, has a number of personality and trivia quizzes, including the one for super heroes. Although the interface for answering questions was easy to use, and the scoring was simple to understand, the limited number of questions make me question the results.
I also really don’t see myself as a bald guy. |

I really liked the format of this quiz at SelectSmart (despite the popup ads). It allowed me to not only answer questions but to also rate how important I felt the question was. Now, granted, some of the questions were entirely trivial in my opinion, but I could at least designate that I thought they were trivial. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The last super hero quiz I looked at was at Quizilla. It was way too short and came up with a character I’ve never heard of. Guess I’m just not up on my DC characters at all. My boss, of course, instantly recognized the character. |
Which DC Super Hero Are You?
Stranger in a strange land, you are slowly making this place your home. You are J’onn J’onzz, the Martian Manhunter. The last of your kind, you are a god among mortals. Yet all you want is to belong. Take this quiz! |

And, if you want to make your own instead of being shoehorned into someone else’s ideas of who you are like, I highly recommend that you check out Lee’s Useless Super Hero Generator for amusing names and UGO’s Hero Machine to create costumes. Back when I did tabletop gaming, my group used the Hero Machine a lot to create portraits of the various characters. In fact, one of my online characters in City of Heroes is based on one of the designs out of the Hero Machine we used.
All characters are copyrighted by their respective companies. Where possible, I have copied the code of my results for use on this page so please go check out the actual quizzes. If I transgress, let me know and I will happily fix it.
Now, of course, I did a search for these sites and took the quizzes all for fun. As my boss was reading this post, he said, "Of course you realize, quizzes like these are a fantastic way to get data for targeted marketing campaigns." And, yes, I have to note that fun and funny quizzes, especially the "personality test" quizzes tend to get passed around our company at an amazing rate… And then we share our results and pass the links to more friends. So there’s your marketing tie-in for the Friday before a long weekend.
Now, go find out which super hero you are.
Update: And although this isn’t new, someone is rediscovering that comic writers use their platform to explore current issues.
Best Article Ever (In my best Comic Book Store Guy voice.)
The ability to make people WANT to give you info, by using a simple "What color are you" or "What book are you" is great....but with GREAT POWER comes GREAT RESPONSIBLITY (with apologies to Stan Lee).
1) If you turn this into marketing info the customer needs to know upfront that is what is going on.
2) If there is going to be marketing done from the info they contribute, you really need to make it opt in.
Play in the marketing space respectfully, and the reputation you earn will add to the results.
